We start with First Grade…
In the Waldorf education tradition, kindergarten is included in early childhood rather than the starting point for the grades. We are starting with first grade, and the class will be “carried by” or taught by that teacher from first grade through eighth grade. This is why in the enrollment form below, we ask which year you’re looking to enroll your child into first grade. Which also means, the 2025-2026 first grade class is the eldest class and the first to graduate from Mighty Oaks School in 2033.

In all that we do, we strive to provide great care to childhood and the developmental stage children are at. Because of this, the First Grade has a weekly schedule that is at a different pace than a usual First Grade class and looks like a homeschool hybrid:
Mondays: Parent & Child Enrichment, including Community Service (done as a group)
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays: Full school days in person learning at Mighty Oaks School
Fridays: Mini morning lesson (virtually, 1 hour maximum) and asynchronous work for the weekend
The school year begins after Labor Day and ends June 11. Other than those instances, our calendar coincides with Clarkston Community Schools.
